Chapter 1: Virgo recognizes Virgo
[0:00]
Ascendant in Virgo. I’m a Virgo rising.
[0:06]
I’m Virgo ascendant. I have Venus in Virgo. Virgo because it’s a Virgo rising.
[0:15]
I’m very detailed because I’m a Virgo rising.
[0:17]
And I have five planets in Virgo up in my 10th house.
[0:20]
Kind of like a Virgo sort of like I’ll I’ll realize my imperfections and inadequacies continuously.
[0:32]
[laughter]
[0:37]
[laughter]
[0:39]
is Virgo.
[0:41]
I I prepared my moon. [laughter] The Virgo, man. I’m so Where’s your moon sign?
[0:50]
Virgo. My favorite. uh scientific.
Chapter 2: Welcome: Virgo behind the chart
[1:08]
Hi, welcome back to Backstage Astrology. My name is Mayra Medina and welcome.
[1:12]
Thank you for being here. First of all, we’re going to be going through a series of stories with all these Virgo astrologers. So, this video is a little
[1:20]
bit different. Instead of learning from one astrologer, we’re going to bring together many voices from across more than 50 backstage interviews and
[1:28]
astrologers from around the world. You will hear astrologers describe in their own words what it has meant to be a Virgo uh maybe through their sun or
[1:37]
their moon or their rising sign and or any other important placement. So rather than explaining Virgo through definitions of textbooks here, we’re
[1:45]
going to explore how Virgo is actually lived by astrologers. We will look at things like perfectionism, control,
[1:53]
self-criticism, humility, service, devotion, discernment, and of course that famous Virgo trait which is the ability to notice absolutely everything.
Chapter 3: How this compilation began
[2:04]
But I wanted to tell you a little bit of the story behind this compilation because as some of you already know probably, you know, if you are on
[2:12]
Instagram, I had a little bit of an accident a few well with the after the eclipse. No, it was before the eclipse.
[2:18]
I had this small accident. So certainly it was not part of the plan, but it forced me to stop and slowing down is
[2:26]
not exactly my Virgo moon’s favorite activity. So it was really challenging to stop and well while I was working
[2:34]
less, I had an opportunity to look back at everything we’ve done here on Backstage Astrology. I realized something is that after interviewing
[2:42]
more than 50 astrologers from around the world, Virgo kept appearing entire collections of Virgo astrologers. So
[2:51]
naturally, I did what any Virgo moon would do, which is I made a spreadsheet.
[2:57]
The more closely I looked at this spreadsheet, the more curious I I became. Why do so many astrologers have strong Virgo placements? What is it
[3:05]
about the Virgo archetype that seems so naturally drawn to studying charts, recognizing patterns, making sense of
Chapter 4: A Virgo threshold
[3:14]
something so complex? So the timing of this realization really it feels especially meaningful because we are
[3:21]
preparing for a new moon in Virgo which is happening I think around September 11th, September the 12th and almost
[3:28]
immediately after that if not the same day we have something here in Israel called Rosh Hashanah. So, some of you know I’m from Mexico, but I live in Israel.
[3:37]
I’m Catholic. But here in Israel, we have the Jewish holidays, we have the Muslim holidays, we have the Christian holidays, the DIY holidays, Bahigh,
[3:45]
Messianic Jews, you know, we’re always always, you know, something’s going on because there are so many religions here and I like to observe this um these
[3:53]
events and basically just kind of steal from this and take what resonates with me from these holidays uh you know, in order to improve my life. So, one of the
[4:02]
holidays I really like here in in in Israel is Rosh Hashanah because it’s the new year for the Jewish people. Now, we in
[4:09]
Mexico or if you are Catholic or Christian, obviously most of the world we celebrate the new year um in the by the end of December, but here they celebrate it with the Virgo new moon.
[4:19]
So, every new every Virgo new moon there is the Rosh Hashanah, the the Jewish holiday.
[4:25]
Now, I am not a cabalistic astrologer. I don’t know. So I mean if there’s someone here that is a cabalistic astrologer and can explain it better please doing do so
[4:34]
in the comments or come to the podcast but what I learned personally from my experiences here is you know that you know every newborn in Virgo we have the
[4:42]
Jewish new year so ro means head and sha means year so it’s the head of the year
[4:49]
basically and then after this roam holiday we have with the veon it really
[4:55]
opens a 10day period of reflection, accountability and repair that
[5:02]
culminates in Yom Kippur which is basically the day of atonement which is basically like a solemn day to um that
[5:10]
is devoted to repentance to actually ask for forgiveness being for being forgiven reconciliation with God and with one
[5:18]
another. And so what people do here is that they fast. They fast for 25 hours.
[5:23]
Now I’ve never done that. I’m gonna try this year because it’s related to purification which is a very Virgo trait. So all this to say that we have
[5:33]
the equinox and all of you probably already know that Venus is going to retrograde into Libra and Scorpio later
[5:40]
on. So it’s like a significant period of time. All of these are my personal reflections because I had so much time to think [laughter] and get lost in my
[5:48]
own thoughts. So please don’t take this like by the book. It’s just personal reflections. I really wanted to share with you as to why I’m going to show you
[5:56]
now the compilation of Virgo astrologers and how amazing they are. I mean all of them are all of them are amazing but you know I it just got my attention that so
[6:05]
many astrologers or at least some of the astrologers that have been here at Backstage Astrology had Virgo placements. It was actually nice to stop
[6:14]
and just look back and reflect and think about what do I keep carrying that it doesn’t really serve me anymore. And I
[6:21]
hope this Burggonian moon and this compilation of stories could bring you to a similar thought or to a conclusion or something you just needed to hear.
[6:28]
Now in the first part you will hear stories of astrologers in English and then in the second part you will hear stories of astrologers in Spanish. That
[6:36]
part has English subtitles if you want to keep watching. They have so many interesting things to say. So I hope you also stay for the Spanish for the second part of the video. face.
Chapter 5: Control, perfectionism and surrender
[6:55]
So to start there in the Virgo area of your chart and what are these qualities where there’s been a lot of micromanaging it’s needed to be overly
[7:03]
perfect. There has been it has the plan has to go like this. Right? Those are basic things which sound very cookie
[7:12]
cutter from the internet. But most of the time in a daily way if we look at where those questions are honestly
[7:19]
deeply playing out in our lives we can see the elements of over control that have been driving us and have not
[7:28]
actually made that area of our lives a devotion to the service of that area of
[7:34]
our chart. Right? So starting where it’s hard or where it’s easy allows us to see where we have the room to grow to the Pisces side, which is faith and trust.
[7:47]
And I’ve got to believe that the universe has got me seated in its palm with perfection already laid out for me.
[7:54]
But I have to surrender the control to be able to let that happen. And from there I see the sweet spot in any
[8:03]
opposition in the middle where they integrate which is I do the footwork and then I let the plan work itself out.
[8:10]
Right? This is where I say I do the footwork. I let the universe do the heavy lifting.
[8:15]
And that’s a brilliant practical integration because if I find out, you know, I’ve been just micromanaging my
[8:22]
image. We’ll use my chart, right? And it’s needed to be perfect. It’s needed to look a certain way, but I need to go to the Pisces side, which is I need to
[8:31]
trust a little more that if I say the thing that is darker or more scary or more creative or whatever is not so
[8:39]
managed, that that’s actually going to be the integration of both of them, especially if I put a little plan around
[8:46]
it, which has been fun. I’ve planned a lot more content that is me dancing around. I’ve been a dancer since I was
[8:55]
three years old. I’m a tap dancer. Most people don’t know that. And so I’ve been able to make a little plan with content that’s looser, that’s easier, right? But
[9:03]
I made a plan for it and then I dance in the video. And that is a practical integration and the relief that it’s brought.
Chapter 6: Humility and feeling inadequate
[9:19]
I’m in Aries sun in the eighth house, uh, Scorpio moon, conjunct Neptune, and I’m Virgo ascendant.
[9:27]
What has been like the challenges or or the the gifts of of that combo?
[9:34]
Sure. I think it’s just such an odd mixture because the Virgo ascendant is constantly like, you know, who do you
[9:42]
think you are? You know, take a step back, be humble, all of that. Be of service.
[9:54]
I felt inadequate. Mhm.
[9:56]
Like I was far from where I knew I could be.
[9:59]
And so reading the clarity and like it resonated so deeply with an intuitive knowing that that it just brought up too much for me. kind of like a Virgo sort
[10:07]
of like it it it reflects too much what I know I could do but I don’t want to get started because the I’ll I’ll realize my imperfections and inadequacies continuously.
[10:18]
Wow.
[10:18]
Um and for me that was a big it’s been an important part of my soul work in this lifetime and kind of the theme I’ve been
[10:26]
expressing learning how to only speak what I know.
[10:30]
And so to be humbled by this deep wisdom that felt really alive in my soul, but to actually eventually realize the
[10:38]
immensity of this wisdom and allow myself to receive it and learn it and and become an authentic student of this work. That that was a very important and
[10:45]
necessary part of my own journey. It’s interesting because it resonates with this part of me that was disillusioned by the the nature of the teachers and
[10:54]
the the the teachings um where it didn’t quite reach deep enough for me.
[11:00]
And then when I found something that was very deep, it actually wasn’t just knowledge, it was actually a soul path.
[11:06]
Mh. um that would really help me to learn how to be a more honest person, how to cultivate, you know, more
[11:13]
sincerity, um more openness and more sincerity, more humility in my own learning. And so that just became a path
[11:20]
that and I never intended to become an evolutionary astrologer. I never even intended to make a business out of it.
[11:26]
It was just again that impelling like here’s something authentic and I have to go there. So Adam certified me in 2008
[11:33]
and then I I dived after then full on into the EA school.
[11:39]
Again, not even with the intention to become certified, just because I knew in my soul there was an integrity piece. I I knew that that was something for
Chapter 7: Detail and useful astrology
[11:47]
me to study and learn from what you mentioned that I am very detailed because I’m a Virgo rising.
[12:00]
Jura Virgo rising and it’s on the fixed star deniba as well.
[12:06]
So that brings in the occult, the esoteric and the metaphysical. It’s talking about not only me doing astrology but me also doing like
[12:15]
alchemical healing work as well on the side. Yeah.
[12:18]
Um it kind of recharges me. So it’s very symbiotic in a lot of ways. And uh recent years I’ve uh even took the next
[12:27]
step and um attended a few mystery schools to kind of deepen my knowledge of practical occult, metaphysical and
[12:36]
esoteric knowledge. Um so I’m on that journey really uh as we speak. I’ve got
[12:42]
a German haven so totally mercury road
[12:48]
[laughter]
[12:49]
and uh I’m a very strong placidus 9th houseser so very Sagittarian like so to
[12:57]
speak but of course it’s not in a sign of Sagittarius.
[13:01]
Why are you doing what you’re doing currently?
[13:03]
I’m a bit of a mumbo jumbo kind of like astrologer art to mix things as long as the technique work. I don’t
[13:10]
discriminate. I mean, I started off learning astrology. I mean, those 10 modules that I remember because it was a tumultuous time with my tutor in London.
[13:21]
We just go back and forth. I started off with classic western and then the optional should I say
[13:28]
elective modules towards the end is more of like towards uranian okay astrology. And then I later on picked up
[13:37]
some um traditional and helenistic techniques as well and just put them in.
[13:43]
So um it’s basically what really works for me. I think that’s coming from my geminic haven, you know, and just connect the dots.
[13:53]
Mhm.
[13:53]
And that Virgo distills everything into something that’s cohesive and workable. Yeah.
Chapter 8: Turning points
[14:06]
But in the space of one year, I went from in top in everything to bottom in everything.
[14:11]
It was the year that the Uranus Pluto conjunction was on top of my ascendant in Virgo.
[14:18]
And um within a year I started growing my hair long and then I got expelled from school. So, I left school and
[14:25]
joined the army and and and then it then when I got kicked out the army, uh I I went on the hippie trail.
[14:35]
The planet I’m most comfortable with is Mercury because I have it on my midheaven in Gemini and I talk for a
[14:43]
living, right?
[14:45]
But if we turn this around and say which planet am I most uncomfortable with? Mhm.
[14:52]
Danish. Why?
Chapter 9: Time management and Virgo rising
[15:06]
Yes. So, Steve was a logical uh a logical choice because he was my astrologer and um you know he’s also
[15:13]
Gemini Virgo rising with Gemini with heaven and and you know so you have a lot of placements so I kind of connected with him. Tell us more about because you have so like many planets in Gemini.
[15:23]
What are the biggest challenges as an astrologer with a lot of Gemini time management?
[15:29]
Yes, Virgo Virgo rising helps I have to say but still you know because Gemini is lacks freedom. Gemini wants to do what
[15:38]
they want you know they like freedom of having and time is a restriction factor right you have to sleep you have to cook you have to eat you have so there’s
[15:46]
another and then obligations towards other although I love spending time with my kid and my husband don’t get me wrong um but you know I I have to then take a
[15:54]
chunk of time not to do astrology to be with them so time management and just prioritizing and seeing what I can and delaying some
[16:02]
things all the satnian stuff for a Gemini are usually ually on a harder because you know some people have this
[16:10]
natural you know things how to do this and just saying no and I want to be there yes you know somebody asked me you
[16:17]
know also saying no to people that can be a lot of but it’s more Virgo and Gemini you know just but still it’s an interesting combo and
[16:25]
many astrologers that been on the podcast have this combo I noticed I don’t know why I was telling I mean I don’t want to do this interview about me but but it’s it’s funny because
[16:34]
so many of them have Virgo rising like most of them have had Virgo rising and I it’s not like I look like oh who’s Virgo
[16:42]
it’s just funny so give me your ah Virgo rising Virgo rising and I’m like I think because your moon because you
[16:49]
have Virgo moon so you attract those people moon ascendant is very great and sinry see because it it it
[16:55]
feels like home with those people and I have five planets in Virgo up in
Chapter 10: Five planets in Virgo
[17:06]
my 10th house. I’ve got Mercury conjunct my mid heaven at one degree of Virgo.
[17:11]
So, I’ve always loved creative writing and it’s just my jam. So, I like I’ve done like a I had a media company for a
[17:19]
while and I interviewed musicians and oh, I’ve done so many cool things.
[17:24]
You mentioned also that you have, you know, a a lot of fixed energy in the chart, but also a lot of Virgo and Virgo
[17:32]
tends to be very mental. No. But how do you manage to not fall into this
[17:38]
rigidity of the Scorpio and Leo and then the Virgo?
[17:44]
I think the Virgo kind of keeps me in check. So five planets in Virgo you’re still I’ve got and they’re personal planets.
[17:54]
I’ve got Wow. I’ve got Mercury, Venus, Jupiter,
[18:01]
Uranus, and Pluto.
[18:05]
So, yeah, in my 10th house and Virgo, and then Scorpio rising. This is very like Scorpio rising psychology therapy
[18:14]
[laughter]
[18:15]
and then my moon in Taurus in the seventh house. Ah, okay. Okay. Yeah. And I have no air in my chart.
[18:25]
So, how does that show up? I lack tacted. I do not have tacted. I’m very straightforward.
[18:32]
Um, which was not easy as far as like my daughter is sensitive. She’s got she’s a
[18:39]
Taurus moon. I mean, a Taurus sun with a Pisces moon. So, ultra sensitive.
[18:45]
Okay. So, you know, p Leo and Pisces don’t see each other. Right.
[18:49]
Right. I’ll write a beautiful crafted like a Facebook post. Oh, it’s good.
[18:54]
Bing. And then I get in [laughter] the shower and another word come. You should have used that a word. Oh my god. Yeah.
[19:01]
And then get out of the shower and you start deconstructing and now it’s starting to lose its its whole composition. And so that overthinking
[19:10]
um the the analysis paralysis that five planets in Virgo provides.
[19:15]
Um my my oh my yeah my Venus is in Virgo. I love work. I am married to my work. I and I love people who love their work.
[19:24]
So that’s super true. Super duper true.
[19:27]
And I love to write and I write for the papers and I love to present. So it’s funny that I have no air in my chart cuz
[19:34]
clearly I can talk. [laughter] I don’t have any tact. But interestingly during my marriage I did not have a voice.
Chapter 11: Virgo’s older lineage
[19:51]
Where’s your moon sign? Virgo. My favorite. Oh, really? [laughter] Why?
[20:00]
I have Venus and Virgo. [laughter] And uh I’m I’m glad I asked you that. In
[20:07]
fact, um there are people that have come into the school and become very serious about the school because of what they
[20:15]
read in my first book about Virgo, which was to which was to um absolutely
[20:25]
well to be completely critical of what the mainstream was saying about Virgo.
[20:30]
You’re not alone. A lot of times when I ask, you know, you you kind of like didn’t want to say moon and Virgo
[20:37]
[laughter]
[20:39]
that this is part of a violation of the understanding of Virgo.
[20:45]
So I’m I’m bringing that up because in this system we would say you used to be a Virgo or you previously graduated from the
[20:53]
University of Virgo or you come from the Virgo tribe. And what Virgo lineage is is the is the lineage of a priestess.
[21:03]
It’s essentially the version of the sacred feminine that was completely committed in service to
[21:11]
spirit to the sacred feminine. It was actually Gaia herself is Virgo. Now, unfortunately, this has been um violated
[21:21]
into something critical, picky, analytical, um almost inhuman, you know,
[21:29]
boring. [laughter] Well, I never personally found it boring, but [laughter] see, the old self is Virgo.
[21:39]
I’ll tell you something interesting about the Virgo moon. All right? So we look at this historically, you know, going back um several hundred thousand
[21:48]
years. The Virgo moon is in a category of what is what used to be called a renunciate.
[21:54]
They would be individuals that would not marry, not have kids. They’re they they were the priestesses. They were the ones that um were um keeping the fires burning, you know, like Hia.
[22:08]
Right. Right. Um and so therefore their emphasis was not on personal relationship.
[22:16]
They they were more like a hermit uh recluse who and different things. I mean, they could be um the ones in
[22:25]
little forest cottage growing magical herbs or or or or they could be um in the in their temple space or they could
[22:33]
be doing healing work. Often it has to do with women’s mysteries, you know, like the the women who would be the um
[22:41]
uh the custod the the ones that would run and understand uh the women’s moon lodges. They would they would know the
[22:49]
most about um about the cycles and seasons of particularly women. All right.
Chapter 12: “I’ll just do it myself”
[23:04]
Virgo risings can be very um strict with themselves. Um Oh yeah, I have a Virgo moon. So I need to ask
[23:11]
you [laughter] why why do why do you think you know those were like mistakes?
[23:17]
I have a threederee Virgo rising so it’s very it’s very um early. Well, I think they were just mistakes honestly based
[23:24]
on the outcome of the experience, right? Like how it happened going through and mostly, let me just be very specific.
[23:32]
One of them and it’s I use it in my marketing is this idea of no, I’ll just do it myself. I’ll just figure it out myself. I’ll just go
[23:38]
myself, right? With the Libra placement, there is a call to partner because I can only go so far on my own. I need to have the mirror and I need to have the
[23:47]
container of another entity to travel with, but it needs to be in true partnership, right? And so every time I would say, I’ll just do it. I’ll just
[23:55]
figure it out myself. I’ll do it. I’ll do it. I’ll do it. Oh my gosh. Like the outcome was always an explosion. I never made more money. I never felt more
[24:02]
valuable. I never like I could not get to the level of genuine value. And so for me, those were just mistakes based
[24:11]
on the outcome. that they were not mistakes based on the fact that I learned what seems to not work for me, right? Like and that is really important
[24:20]
today. I can also embrace the duality of what that air energy has to offer, which is both sides of the coin, the mistake,
[24:27]
but also what did I learn from the mistake. So in that way, it’s served me very well and it does make my Virgo rising [laughter] happy to be learning and perfecting something, you know.
[24:39]
Right. Right. And eventually that turned into needing to do the thing that my Virgo rising did not like was I needed
[24:46]
to start to bring in team members. And that y’all, let me tell you, was an event.
[24:53]
I cried and and and it made sense, right? And I’m grateful. My husband is an Aries. He was like, “But you’re tired. Just let
[25:01]
go.” And I’m like, “I don’t think that you’re hearing my chief complaint, which is that I won’t be doing it.” [laughter] And so that’s what had to happen and
[25:10]
that was an experience in my chart as well to let go and realize if the process was laid out someone else could come in and do some portion of the back
[25:17]
work that doesn’t need my attention. And once that could happen then I was freed up for some other things and could say
[25:24]
yes to to those. And that getting my business sorted in that way gave me energy back to do what I needed to do
[25:33]
because my primary function as far as I’m concerned is to be a daughter, a wife, and a mother. The rest is bonus work.
[25:43]
But when when I’m tired trying to live my best business life, there’s there’s
[25:48]
[laughter]
[25:49]
there’s not a lot of me left at the end of the day, you know? So I just needed
[25:55]
to get and allow some containers to come in to allow structures and once those structures were in place things could flow.
Chapter 13: Earth, audacity and discernment
[26:08]
Where do you think or where in your chart maybe I don’t know do you think this audacity comes from because certainly I would love to have more
[26:16]
Audacity but is do you think there is like a special signature for Audacity or is just a personality trait you develop because of your family background or your mama or something like that?
[26:28]
That’s a good question. That could be a whole that could be a whole talk that somebody [laughter] audacity. So whoever is going to do that
[26:35]
talk I can’t wait to see what it is. Um, you know, but sometimes I think and the longer I stay in the game and honestly the longer I stay alive is that I think
[26:44]
in places that are easy for me. I have Earth. I’m a Virgo rising. I have a Capricorn south node and I’m a Taurus sun high in the sky. And
[26:53]
some of that steadiness I I do think breeds audacity in me where I’m like I’m just doing what I’m doing. And if it’s
[27:01]
steady, right? Like if I have some structural proof behind it. I really don’t let people give me a lot of crap about stuff. I’m like, it’s actually
[27:10]
interesting you’re saying that cuz I had a conversation with my mom. I’m 43 now.
[27:14]
And we were having a conversation about me in my 20s and there had been a woman who I love and I respect and she’s just
[27:21]
got her own thing going on. And my mom was like, “Yeah, you never really let her speak a lot into your life.” And I
[27:29]
said, “Yeah, from the time that I was younger, my perspective is I love people as they are and I’m support everybody’s little journey, but if your life doesn’t
[27:38]
look like what I would like to experience, I don’t let you speak into my life because I don’t have time for it.” Right? And that’s not out of better
[27:45]
than less than. It’s just that you’re not going in the direction I want to go.
[27:48]
Why would I give you that space? So I think in that earthiness that is something that has served me well where I’m like boots on the ground.
[27:58]
I need to have things coming into my ears that help me achieve the goal.
Chapter 14: Precision in the mess
[28:04]
So make room for the new and just you know let it flow because I know we don’t have control here I guess. [laughter] Absolutely. Well, and it’s like I I
[28:12]
always want to talk about especially when people have like a a a sun that is above the horizon, right? A daytime sun
[28:19]
in Virgo or they have a Virgo rising is like this place of we really want to look good. Can it’s it eclipse time
[28:28]
that’s going to come undone and you’re going to have to say the thing that is true. You’re going to have to wear the hairstyle that is true. you know, like
[28:35]
whatever it is, it gets messy. And the truth is that’s quite uncomfortable for a Virgo who wants to just kind of be nicely tightly packaged. But it’s like,
[28:44]
hold on. The truth of your precision and where you really find your discernment is going to actually be in the mess a little bit.

Chapter 16: The gift and the wound of Virgo
[44:55]
So, this is where it ends. And let’s just talk a little bit about what we’ve learned or you know some of the traits the Virgo traits that were not
[45:02]
mentioned. We always hear in the social media that Virgo can be very critical or anxious or controlling or cold obsessive
[45:10]
impossible to please is another trait that I keep hearing when I reviewed that spreadsheet with all the natal placements of astrologers who have
[45:18]
mentioned that they are viros. Here at Backstage Astrology we saw Virgos showed up repeatedly. For example, Margaret
[45:25]
Gray explained that her Virgo Rising can sound like an internal voice saying, “Oh my god, who do you think you are? Take a
[45:33]
step back. Be humble. Be of service.” The gift is humility and service. The wound is believing that you must remain
[45:41]
small to be useful. So this is something I took with me and I hope it resonates with you as well. Stormy Grace, for
[45:49]
example, she spoke about her Virgo rising alongside the steadiness of her Taurus Sun. You can see the Virgo
[45:56]
ability to build, teach, and transform knowledge into something practical. José Millán, a Virgo Sun, jokingly described his
[46:05]
earthy, heavy chart with a Virgo sun and a Capricorn rising labeled as boring according to himself. But he also spoke
[46:13]
about one of earth’s the earth element one of earth’s deepest lessons which is you can organize many things but you
[46:21]
cannot control life then we have Juan Carlos Gómez another Virgo Sun he spoke about the tension between usefulness
[46:30]
constant activity and the need to surrender as well then we also had Paz Aragón another Virgo Rising she
[46:37]
described herself as someone who had everything program everything kind of like a schedule, but then life required
[46:44]
her to abandon those plans with that Uranus she mentioned and take care of her mother. That’s the story we heard in
[46:52]
the full interview with Paz Aragón. So that is one of Virgo’s most difficult initiations is discovering that being
Chapter 17: Perfectionism as self-protection
[46:59]
prepared does not protect you from uncertainty. So behind Virgo’s desire to improve things, there can be a lot of
[47:06]
fear. If I make a mistake, something bad will happen. Or if I am not useful, perhaps I will not be loved or valued.
[47:14]
Or if I do not anticipate every problem, everything could fall apart. And that is why perfectionism is not always about
[47:21]
wanting to be the best. Sometimes perfectionism is self-protection.
[47:26]
Meaning that if I prepare enough, if I research enough, if I work enough, if I check everything three times, perhaps no
[47:34]
one can criticize me. Perhaps I will never disappoint anyone. Perhaps I will finally feel good enough. For an
[47:41]
astrologer, this can be exhausting. Just if I’m making this video, I’m thinking that probably I miss someone or probably I’m forgetting a line or something like
[47:50]
that. But while we’re here trying our best, [laughter] there is another myth around Virgos. And this is in general, not only the
Chapter 18: Virgo’s love language
[47:56]
astrologers, that they are very cold people. I don’t think Virgo is necessarily cold. I think Virgo often
[48:04]
expresses how they love someone through attention or through acts of service. It remembers the small detail you mentioned
[48:11]
six months ago. Sometimes Virgo is going to say things like, “Hey, I fixed it. I brought you this. I brought what you needed. I checked the details. I noticed
[48:19]
you were struggling.” Virgo may not always say, “Hey, I love you.” With dramatic declarations. Now, sometimes Virgo becomes its own problem, right?
Chapter 19: When the gift becomes the shadow
[48:28]
This is the shadow because with every with every gift there is always a shadow. So discernment can become
[48:36]
judgment or preparation can become procrastination. I’m an expert in doing that by the way. Humility can become
[48:43]
invisibility. In service can also become self-abandonment.
[48:48]
Virgo can become so afraid of being inaccurate that it loses the confidence to speak. Now what Virgo has to teach
Chapter 20: Astrology as practice
[48:56]
astrology? Well, Virgo reminds us that astrology is a practice, not a performance of knowing everything. It’s
[49:04]
a practice. This is Backstage Astrology where the astrology becomes human. And now, if you will excuse me, I need to watch this video again and check
[49:12]
whether I said Virgo too many times.
